As I discussed at Sunday’s Parish Meeting, the Corporation has been working for a couple of months on a strategic plan. The purpose of this plan is twofold: it will help us to flesh out our tagline, “Reconciling, Affirming, Rejoicing”; and it will set parameters for how we plan to handle our building and financial concerns once 99 Mt. Pleasant St. is sold. The plan deals with both the practicalities of things like kitchen renovation and cash flow, and with the more conceptual questions of “what does it really look like to be ‘affirming’ and what do we do to get there?”
The Corporation has worked hard on this project, including devoting the bulk of our retreat on September 7 to it. We intend to present the plan at the next Parish Meeting, on October 27. The final step is to workshop it with a small group from the parish so that we can find out if there are any concerns or ideas that we’ve missed. Since Sunday’s meeting, a number of folks have agreed to serve as part of this group. However, none of them currently are former Church of the Resurrection parishioners, and we do feel that it’s important to have that representation in the group. If you would like to be part of this conversation, please let me know!
Once the plan has been finalized, we intend to convene Talking Circles later in the fall so that everyone has a chance to reflect on it and give input as to how to put it into practice.
I am impressed and encouraged by the energy, commitment and vision that have characterized our conversations since I arrived just over a year ago: as we all got to know each other, as we hashed out our mission statement in Lent of 2019, and as the Corporation has worked on fleshing out that mission in a plan. I look forward to the final version and to our ongoing conversations as we move forward with the many important initiatives flowing from our mission!

Yes Grace. Please consider my support for the strategic plan. If my perspective can help, I would like to be there.
